How do I proceed in case of extra charges?

In case the value charged by the rental company is higher than the value hired through BookingCars, make sure you ask the rental company why. It is common for rental companies to offer a variety of extra services at the front desk at the moment of signing the rental agreement. These items are not required to pick up the vehicle and their purchase is completely optional.
Before signing the agreement, we recommend you read it in detail. In case of any doubts, ask the employee or contact us.

What is the security deposit?

When picking up the vehicle, the office employee will need you to leave a deposit in case the vehicle is damaged or stolen during the rental period. The stipulated amount will be blocked/charged temporarily on the credit card and retained during the rental period.
Provided the vehicle is returned without any damages, the amount will be unblocked/reimbursed within a time limit that will depend on the credit card’s operator, which is usually 15 days.
If the main driver does not have sufficient funds to block or charge the deposit, the office employee may deny them a vehicle or insist on hiring an additional coverage (insurance) with the rental company.
It is a very frequent practice at most companies.

What does the rental fee include?

The fee includes everything you need so that you do not have any surprises or extra charges at your destination. BookingCars gives you the peace of mind that all insurance and required rates are always included in your fee.


In general, your booking includes the mileage, basic damages coverage, taxes and administrative fees from the rental company.
At the rental company’s front desk, they will offer you some extras but they are completely optional.
The daily fee depends on the pick-up and drop-off hours established in the rental agreement. Therefore, even if the rental period does not complete 24 hours, you will be charged the total value of a 24 hours rental. It is calculated by day, not by hour.

What additional services/items can I purchase?

Depending on the destination and the rental company, you may choose from a wide range of additional services and items:

  • Baby car seats
  • Snow chains
  • Luggage rack
  • GPS
  • Additional driver
  • First full tank of fuel

How can I purchase additional services/items?

You may request them in our website or at the time of pick-up.
Rental companies do not allow you to pay for additional services/items in advance since availability can only be guaranteed at the time of pick-up. You may request them but not pay for them (they are always paid at destination).
The additional services/items available in BookingCars are:
